Another fun thing to do is swim in the river; I brought some goggles and was amazed by the clarity of the water, where the rocks looked so interesting from beneath. Even though it was cold, something was energizing about swimming in cold water.

The experience of walking through a tunnel to start the hike was both thrilling and nerve-wracking. The trail leads you through a forest before reaching the cliffs, where the views are simply breathtaking. The final obstacle is a bridge that goes over a deep canyon, which was honestly the scariest part for me, but it was an unforgettable adventure.
Schilthorn: A James Bond Experience
After exploring Mürren, a visit to the Schilthorn is a must. This iconic mountain peak is famous for being featured in the 1969 James Bond film “On Her Majesty’s Secret Service.” The lift tickets can be pricey, but the experience is well worth it. At the summit, you can enjoy a meal in the rotating restaurant that completes a full rotation every 45 minutes, offering stunning views of the surrounding peaks. The weather conditions can change rapidly, so be prepared for anything. One moment you might have clear skies, and the next, you could be enveloped in clouds. Regardless, the experience is magical, and the views are jaw-dropping.
Zermatt: The Charming Village Under the Matterhorn
For the grand finale of your Swiss adventure, a visit to Zermatt is essential. This charming village is shadowed by the iconic Matterhorn, one of the most recognizable mountains in the world. The atmosphere in Zermatt is truly magical, with its car-free streets, quaint shops, and stunning views of the surrounding peaks.
One of the best ways to experience the Matterhorn is by taking the Gornergrat Railway, which starts in Zermatt and takes you up to 3,100 meters for some of the best views of the mountain. We got up super early to catch the first train, and the views were breathtaking. Two lakes offer some of the best reflections of the Matterhorn, and if the conditions are just right, you can see a perfect reflection of the peak in the water.
For those looking to get even closer to the Matterhorn, I highly recommend taking the gondola up to Schwarzsee. From there, you can hike up to the base of the Matterhorn, which was one of my favorite experiences in Zermatt. The energy of the mountains is palpable, and being surrounded by such beauty is truly invigorating.
